c (programming language)

C is a general-purpose programming language that was designed with portability in mind. It has attained significant influence since its creation, spawning an entire family of languages inspired by its syntax.

It was created in the 1970s by Dennis Ritchie, and has since become one of the most popular languages. Today, it is still widely used for operating system kernels and device drivers.

Some of the languages it has inspired include C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, and PHP.
