Single-seat close air support and maritime strike fighter used by the JASDF. Developed from Mitsubishi's previous Mitsubishi t-2 trainer, the shoulder-winged, twin-engined F-1 bears a marked resemblance to the Anglo/French Jaguar. Armament includes one JM61 Gatling gun and five hardpoints capable of carrying air-to-ground and antiship ordnance, plus AIM-9 Sidewinders for self-defense.
