MUGEN m.u.g.e.n mugen M.U.G.E.N

A "Fighting game engine" made by Elecbyte originally intended to be made into a run-and-gun game. When it was abandoned in 1999, modders turned it into an open-source fighting game with official fighting game characters and fanmade versions of many different characters.

Surprisingly, two characters were produced for M.U.G.E.N before its discontinuation: Kung Fu Man and Suave Dude. Both of these two characters became the base of the modders to create various new characters.

After learning about their abandoned project being revived, Elecbyte briefly returned in September of 2009 with a new HD version of MUGEN available for download on its site.

This tag can be applied to various original M.U.G.E.N characters, either a completely original design or an alternate costume of an existing character.
