Contra Hard Corps, released in Japan as Contra: The Hard Corps (魂斗羅 ザ・ハードコア), is the first and only Contra game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis released by Konami in 1994.
Technically pronounced "core", but more fun to pronounce "corpse". The game was also released in Europe and Australia as Probotector.
It is set five years after the events of Contra III The Alien Wars released for the Super Famicom some years before.
Is notable because of its high level of difficulty, several playable characters and multiple player-choice paths and endings, as well as its non-stop action.
This game amazed many players when it showed video game special effects nobody ever thought the Mega-Drive/Sega Genesis hardware could even produce in that system...
