The title character and main villain of the arcade game Donkey Kong, an early arcade hit for Nintendo.
Mario has to fend off his barrels to rescue Pauline.
In later games he became a hero, such as in Donkey Kong Country, and is a reoccurring character in the Mario spinoff games.
